Hope you all had a good Christmas break and are looking forward to a fun packed Scouting 2009.
Scout Troop meetings resume on Wednesday 14th January 7.30pm – 9.00pm. Your leaders will be meeting this week to finalise this terms programme and final preparations for the forthcoming Winter Camp at Tolmers Scout Camp Site.
We are starting a second Scout Troop on 29th January 2009. This Troop will meet weekly on a Thursday night after Beavers, 7.45pm – 9.15pm.
The second Troop has been in the planning for quite some time, and is necessary to meet the needs of our expanding Group, and boys feeding through from 2 successful Cub packs. We have an excellent team of new leaders, fired up with enthusiasm and ready to go, lead by Lindsay Briggs who I’m sure you all know already. The Wednesday and Thursday troops (new troop names are being considered – suggestions on a postcard!) will run with the same weekly programme, and will come together for joint camps and activities. Hopefully with greater numbers, more leaders etc. bigger and better activities will become more viable, and Scouting in Linslade will become even better than it already is!!
Therefore we have an opportunity for any Wednesday night Scouts to move to Thursday night if this is more convenient. Two or three have already decided to do this, and we would like to keep friendship groups together where possible. We may also be able to accept one or two new Scouts from outside the movement, however the new spaces will primarily be for Cubs coming up through the ranks and are already allocated over the next 12 months.
